Conditions we treat

Where doesit hurt?

01 · Lumbar spine · L1–L5

Low back painthe reason most people call.

What’s usually going on

Usually stiff joints and guarded, overworked muscles around the lower spine, often after lifting, a long drive or weeks of sitting. It feels alarming, but most of it is mechanical and settles with the right care.

How we help

We test how you move, find the joints that are not, and treat them with adjustments or low-force techniques, soft-tissue work and two or three exercises to keep it moving.

Many people feel a clear change within the first few visits.

02 · Cervical spine · C1–C7

Neck painand the stiffness that comes with it.

What’s usually going on

Screens, sleep and stress all end up in the neck. Pain on turning your head, a sore spot at the base of the skull, or tightness spreading to the shoulders are typical.

How we help

Gentle mobilisation of the neck and upper back together, soft-tissue therapy, and small changes to your desk and pillow that make a real difference.

Most neck pain responds well to conservative care like this.

03 · Upper neck · C1–C3

Headachesthat start in the neck.

What’s usually going on

Tension-type and neck-related (cervicogenic) headaches often begin at the back of the head and wrap forward, and get worse with long hours at a desk.

How we help

We treat the upper neck and the muscles that refer pain into the head, and help you spot the triggers. Sudden, severe or unusual headaches go to your doctor first.

The aim is fewer headaches, and milder ones when they do come.

04 · Lower lumbar, sacrum · L4–S1

Sciaticapain running down one leg.

What’s usually going on

An irritated nerve root in the low back can send pain, tingling or numbness through the buttock and down the leg, sometimes worse than the back itself.

How we help

A careful neurological exam first. Then gentle techniques to take pressure off the nerve and movements that calm it down. If you need imaging or a specialist, we say so.

Sciatica can take longer to settle; we will give you an honest timeline.

05 · Thoracic spine · T1–T12

Upper back and shouldersthat knot between the blades.

What’s usually going on

A stiff mid-back makes the neck and shoulders work harder. Aching between the shoulder blades, a catch on deep breaths, or shoulders that live up by your ears.

How we help

Adjustments to free up the mid-back, soft-tissue work on the shoulder girdle, and posture exercises you can do at your desk.

Often one of the quickest areas to feel easier.

We also see

  • Pregnancy back and pelvic pain

  • Low back pain

“I came in bent sideways after lifting a bag of soil. Dr. Ashby explained what was going on, treated it gently, and gave me two exercises. I was gardening again within the month.”

  • Headaches

“Years of tension headaches from desk work. Nobody had ever looked at my neck and upper back together before. They are now the exception, not the rule.”

    Tomás R.

  • Sciatica

“Daniel was honest that my leg pain needed a scan first and sent me to my doctor. When I came back, the plan was clear and it worked. I trust them because of that.”

Before you book

Questions wehear every week.

Something else? Call (555) 018-7734 and ask Rosa.

Does an adjustment hurt?

Usually not. Most people feel relief or nothing much at all; some feel mildly sore for a day, like after exercise. If you would rather avoid the popping, we use low-force techniques instead. You can say stop at any point.

What is the popping sound?

Gas being released from the fluid in a joint as it moves, the same as cracking your knuckles. It is not bones moving out of or into place, and it is not needed for a treatment to work.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. You can book directly. If anything in your history or exam suggests you need a doctor, imaging or a specialist first, we will tell you and help arrange it.

Do you take my insurance?

We bill nine major plans directly and give you a receipt for the rest. Rosa checks your coverage before your first visit and tells you what you will pay. HSA and FSA cards are welcome.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what is going on and how long it has been there. After your first exam we give you a plan with a number, and we re-check at every stage. No long prepaid packages.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable you can move in: leggings or loose trousers and a T-shirt. We have gowns if you need one.

Can you treat me while I am pregnant?

Yes, in any trimester, with pregnancy-safe positioning and techniques. Let us know when you book, and tell your midwife or OB you are seeing us.
